Here are some crafty date ideas to help you bond as you make.

Pottery Classes
Pottery classes are an excellent way of getting your hands dirty – and getting a bit flirty! Films and TV shows have been known to use this as a perfect date scenario. If you’re not so keen on the actual making of the pots – which can take some time – you can go and paint pottery together.
I remember taking my now husband on a date to a pottery painting cafe to paint mugs for each other. We still have them and they are full of memories.
Knitting
If you like to chat but want something to occupy you while you do, knitting can be a surprisingly fun crafty date idea. Knitting clubs or circles often welcome beginners, where you can learn to knit or show off your skills with the needles. Whatever level you’re at, it’s a relaxing backdrop to having a good chat with your date. And if you find you’re a knitting whizz, get creative – you could make each other a scarf! My mother knitted my father a jumper while they were dating, and he still treasures it!

Cooking and baking
I once had a date on a cooking class for couples and it was an excellent way to make a yummy dish together, working as a team. After the hard work of creating, you then have a sit down meal to eat and enjoy what you’ve both made.
If you have more of a sweet tooth, head straight for dessert! Cupcake decorating classes and chocolate making are fun. Or you can just create a special dinner from scratch or bake a cake together at home for a cheaper crafty date idea.
Upcycling and restoration
If you’re a fan of repurposing and recycling, there are lots of ways to bring new life to something old and make it a date as well as a project. You could work together on restoring an old chair or chest of drawers. Maybe you could learn new skills together and enjoy the process of ripping apart and repairing, making something beautiful that otherwise may be discarded for being old or broken.
Candle Making
Let there be light! Making candles is a fun crafty date idea and you can make your own romantic atmosphere afterwards by using your handcrafted items for a candlelit dinner. You don’t need to be an expert. If you have a space you can use together, you can make candles with just a few components that can be bought easily, and you can colour or decorate them if you’re feeling creative.

Art and Painting
Check for local art classes around to try, if you want a hassle-free experience. However, this is a crafty date idea you can DIY! Just buy two canvases and some paints and get to work on a picture of each other – no artistic skill needed!
It can be a fun, comical way of spending time together, with an enjoyable memory at the end. It’s interesting to see what features your date is drawn to, and how they perceive you – a great talking point!
Foraging
Is there anything tastier than homemade food? Nature offers so many possibilities. If you live near or can travel to somewhere blackberries or other fruits grow, or you can do a pick your own fruit date, to eat later and make something with your findings. You could do a part one and part two date – collect the fruit and then make some jam or a crumble!
If you want to check out other wild-growing foods, make sure you check what’s safe to eat.
Collecting
If you live near the sea, a river or even an old you could go metal detecting together or sea shell collecting and make an artistic memento of your findings. You can look for beautiful – or even valuable! – items or make it personal to the two of you.
Scrapbooking
If you’ve been on a few dates together already and things are going well, maybe you can keep little memorabilia from each date (train tickets, cinema tickets, menus, leaves from a walk etc) so that you can then make a scrapbook together to build your story and maintain those memories.
Crafting is a wonderful way to learn new skills and have something to focus on together. It is a natural conversation starter, and can be a good way of learning practical skills too. Find a crafty date idea or two that look fun and push yourself to try something new.
